South West Western Australia
rfiretail
Red-eared Firetail by Frank O'Connor
The temperate south-west of Western Australia has one of the world's richest floras, including extensive heathlands that attract diverse birdlife during Australia's most spectacular wildflower season, which this trip is timed to encounter. The ground orchid season will have begun and we will be looking to see the Queen of Sheeba plus many others.

CBCockatoo

Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo by Frank O'Connor
Tall eucalypt forests and woodlands support WA's highest diversity of marsupials; boodies, woylies and quenda amongst the best. And of course the birdlife is splendid: we are likely to encounter are Red-capped Parrots, Red-eared Firetails, Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo, Western Spinebill, maybe the Western Whipbird and Western Bristlebird. A fabulous trip to Australia's southern most corner, at the perfect ime of year.

Day 2 Wednesday 27 August Perth to Narrogin

7.00am for a walk over to Kings Park where the Twenty Eights(Australian Ringneck) should be in force. After an 8.00am breakfast downstairs in the motel we will start our touring at 9.00am through parrot country at Wungong Dam. Western Rosellas should abound on the way to even finer birdwatching and mammal viewing at Dryandra Woodland National Park. An evening spotlighting may bring a Tamar Wallaby and if we are really lucky a Red-tailed Phascogale.
