Never has the season been better in this magnificent country. The huge Eyre Basin fed by Channel Country rivers winding their way over the floodplains have had a terrific monsoon season and followup rains. Reveal in the abundance with FTB.

Itinerary

Cooper Creek

Fly into Charleville on Day 1 with Qantas arriving for dinner in your 4 star motel, amongst the Spiney-cheeked Honeyeaters and warm spacious air of Queensland. Night Charleville.

Day 2 is a leisurely drive over the Warrego and Paroo Rivers with lots of birdwatching time to acclimatise to all the local birds such as Zebra Finches foraging in seeding grass and Mallee Ringnecks flying through magnificent River Red Gums. Night Quilpie.

Day 3 is magnificent floodplains alive with Brolga, flocks of Budgerigah and Crimson Chats, many Major Mitchell Cockatoo and Southern Whiteface. First of 2 Nights Windorah.

Day 4 brings the loop through Welford NP with Mitchell Grass Downs, Mulga and giant spinifex grass In the rugged sections Yellow-footed Rock-wallabies, Mulga and Red-winged Parrots, Spinifex Pigeons and cuckoos. Night Windorah.

Day 5 we head back through the same flood plains spending time in the hot spots on the 6 Day Trip. Night Quilpie. And on the 7 Day trip there is a flight over the floodplains and channels as seen on the ABC recently to spend the night in Birdsville. Returning the following morning to head back to Quilpie on Day 6.
