Hawkesbury Wetlands
Saturday 11 October 2008
Guide: Keith Brandwood
These wetlands are renown for the exciting birds that turn up here in Spring. Not only the migrant shorebirds with Great Crested Grebes breeding here last year even, but southern ducks, crakes and rails are prevelant. Across the agricultural plots Skylarks, Rufous and Brown Songlarks play and all the afore mentioned birds should be easy to watch as there are few trees for them to hide in! Easy walking for all and a bit of standing whilst Keith flushes us a King, Brown or best of all a Stubble Quail would be splendid- dreams do come true with Follow That Bird.

Twitchathon in the Royal National Park
Saturday 25 October 2008
Guide: Bob Ashford
FTB is offering the opportunity to participate in the wonderful Twitchathon. The twitching ground will be the Royal National Park which is rich in birdlife, particularly in spring when those Emu-wrens will be feeding their young; perfect time for viewing this elusive species whilst raising money for conservation.
Follow That Bird will be paying a $1.00 per bird species seen, and heard (and confirmed by our guide) and $2.00 for Bonus Birds - like the Southern Emu-wren, Catbird, Pilotbird and Diamond Firetail.
Come along on the Day Trip and watch FTB clock up the money and join the excitement of participation whilst dawdling through the tall moist eucalypt forest and rainforests that are bound to turn out Satin Bowerbirds, Superb Lyrebirds and Eastern Whipbirds.
Or you can sponsor the Day Trippers by contacting the office and monies raised go to the new Birds Australia Centre in Bicentennial Park.

Mt Wilson & Banks on the Kurrajong Road
Saturday 1 November 2008
Guide: Jill Dark
A lovely scenic drive along the Kurrajong Road to Mount Banks first up. There Tawny-crowned Honeyeater, White-eared Honeyeater and Grey Currawong roam amongst the heathland wildflowers and sweeping views towards the Grose Valley. Wandering down the wide track enjoying the crisp mountain air, nothing could be nicer to fresh the spirit as spring starts its final month.
Mount Wilson's forest and gardens are deeply traditional in an English and Australian sense, and we will be looking for Gang-gang Cockatoo, Eastern Whipbird and all those small brown birds brought to life by binoculars.

Fitzroy Falls
Saturday 15 November 2008
Guide: Bob Ashford
Down below Sydney the Southern Highlands rise, beautifully, to Bowral and Moss Vale, quaint English-style villages with a cool climate. Just perfect for a very special Crescent Honeyeater, and lots of other smaller bush birds, which is what we will be aiming for on a day out of Sydney's city atmosphere. The Fitzroy Falls are fabulous and it is not out of the question for the mimicry of a Superb Lyrebird to be heard and even luckier for a sighting in this temperate rainforest. Bob will keep you jumping whilst adding to your list of sightings in his backyard area.

Xmas Party - Showing the Rellies Our Birds
Saturday 20 December 2008
Guide: Alan Morris
When friends and "rellies" arrive and you'd like a day out enjoying their company, without having to drive and organise at this frantic time of year; take advantage of a birdwatching day with the latest sightings, the best weather location and perhaps a rare bird record(from the NSW Record Keeper himself!). Extend your welcome to overseas visitors by giving them the chance of a day watching exciting Australian birds. Their refreshing joy at sightings, that we take for granted gives us a new take on Galahs, Superb Fairy Wrens and all our splendidly coloured parrots. And the locals just love showing off our beautiful birds and countryside.
Our destination will be the best of the Central Coast with its delightful bays and beaches.

An early start to catch the best of the birds on the escarpments of the Hawkesbury River first up with lots of identifying technique being discussed, and practiced. Bargo River Southern Highlands
Saturday 14 March 2009
Guide: Bob Ashford
South of Sydney city we head down to explore this wonderful fire trail that has brought us so much success over the past few years. We have had to drag birders away who wanted to continue further down the trail. Well now we have the better part of our day to wend beside the peaceful Bargo River with Rock Warblers, Striated Pardalotes and Crested Shrike-tits strong possiblities.
Easy walking at a pace resembling meandering with a lot of standing around training those binoculars on all the birds surrounding us. Please come and help out with the spotting and calling; Bob will gladly identify for you.
